Worst airplane combo---UA 737-200(non advanced) and Alaska DC-9 (I like the 2x3, but something was just missing.)

***PLEASE--don't take this personally, anyone! I think UA and Alaska are the two greatest airlines in the world...but it was the aircraft which were horrible!

Oh yikes it must have been the dirty TWA 747-100 with the malfunctioning toilets and surly crew. Madrid to New York/JFK...the flight from hell! Either that or my connecting flight, the dirty TWA L-10-11 JFK-SFO with the malfunctioning toilets and surly crew, delayed for 6 hours because they had overbooked by 200 people!

The worst airline I've flown on was the charter airline I worked for as a flight attendant in the early 90s: Nationair Canada. Ever heard of them? Ever flown with them? They flew 747-100s and 200s (ex-TWA), 757-200s and DC-8 (61-62-63)! I love the DC8, but Nationair's were in awful condition, as were most of their planes. Their 747s were not much better. After the fatal crash of a DC8-63 in Jeddah in 1991, the airline lasted only another two years. Air Transat now flies its former 757s.

The worst flight personally was on Malev (hungarian airline) from London to Budapest in a TU-134. I kissed the ground once I got out of the airplane. In general the worst airplanes are Airbus built, never believed in them and don't like them. Go Boeing.

Only people from the former Eastern Bloc countries can answer this question. There is a documentary about Aeroflot called "Airplanski" mostly shown on public television. You must see it. Take heart that you don't fly over there. But the best evidence comes as anecdotal stories. They are legion. Ever been on a flight where the passengers brought gasoline containers, filled to the brim, as carry-on baggage? Ever pulled out the change in your pockets to help pay the pilot to fly the plane?
