Continental 737 In Hong Kong

Sat Sep 23, 2000 11:31 am

Please explain this photograph to me...I am sure there is a good reason, but what the heck is this??

Why would a Continental 737 be found in Hong Kong. This seems a bit strange to me. Wouldn't that be a rather long -- and impossible -- ride in a cramped space! Does it simply belong to Continental Micronesia? If that is the case, why is that not written on the side?

Thanks,

Jeb!

Air Mike flies the 737-800 daily, I think, from Guam to Hong Kong. I don't think any planes, except for the few remaining 727s have CO Micronesia titles.

Three times a week. Mon - Wed - Fri, from Guam. Sometimes we get the 757-200 but this is the standard aircraft if you want to wait for a 10.00 pm arrival !!

All of the 727's have been returned and none of the new stuff carries Micronesia titles. I heard they want to cancel the Micronesia name and just go back to CO.

The history of Continental SPN-GUM-HKG. It's B727 DC-10, B757, B738. The B737-800 service to Hong Kong from GUM since Nov 1999 (I guess, May be I forgot). Right now, most of the flight are full load, I guess they are making money on this route with B738, the B752 was make them lose money. BTW , just telling you guys. The Hong Kong station is under GUM, not EWR or Huston. Even thought Continental will be operate the B777 EWR-HKG next year, but HKG is still have to under GUM.

"Continental Micronesia (CS/CMI) Air Mike" We still using this name in Asia route from GUM. It's doesn't clear what they are going with the name of Continental and Continental Micronesia either. The reason is in Hong Kong station is under GUM, not EWR or Huston. Even thought Continental will be operate the B777 EWR-HKG next year, but HKG is still have to under GUM. If the flight is have some kind of the problem, the CS staff have to make a phone call to GUM.

The B727-200F N622DH, 623DH, 624DH, 625DH, 626DH and 627DH are already back to DHL. The flight was HKG-MNL-GUM, I still remember my friend told me the flight was without any cargo to GUM. Even thought the final stop in GUM.

I miss them because it's hard to find a B727 in HKG. Most of the airlines in Asia wasn't using B727 anymore. Just only in some small cargo airlines.

These couple photo was what I took in Hong Kong with the B727-200F.

It's my understanding that CO Micronesia doesn't even exist anymore. It's all CO. The "micronesia" painted on the fuselage is long gone.

CO no longer uses the 727, anywhere in the world.
