OK, this is my perspective to this. I think the 757-300 is a contender just as what Flight international stated on this weeks issue. However I believe that the 7573 is just too small of an aircraft to replace the DC10's just like what some of you have said. The A330-500( a shrink of the 200 series) would be a very good choice, if Im not mistaken they did order some A330-300 before but im not sure if they are still valid and have changed them to A32x series. But, ofcourse money is going to be a very huge factor for the purchase of these aircrafts. They might be able to lease them. The MD-11, like some of you have stated and the 777, 767-300/400 are totally out of the running. The MD11 was once offered to NW by KLM however the deal did'nt push through. Besides every body wants to get rid of there MD11, even KLM. So this is what I think is going to go down, NW will either purchase or LEASE A330-500, or retain the DC10 till they decide again when its really time to get rid of them. The boeing types are out of question, I dont see them as buying those aircraft, BUT I MIGHT BE MISTAKEN, we never know and we can only speculate.
