If you could bring them back......

Sat Mar 13, 1999 2:32 am

If you could bring back your favorite airlines that are now bankrupt and out of business, what routes would you take and what aircaft would you use.

I would bring back Eastern Airlines.
I would have a main hub at JFK, with major hubs at MIA, ORD, ATL, DEN, IAH, BOS, and DCA. Smaller hubs would be at SLC, PHX, LAX, and SEA.
I would have:
89 757-200's
9 MD-83's
14 MD-88's
20 747-400's
17 777-200's
12 DC-9-15's
10 727-200's
11 767-300's
2 767-300 ER's

In all, 184 aircraft. I'd probably need a couple billion dollars! I might even want to start an Eastern Express service with EMB-126 aircraft.

Why 89 757-200's and not 90?

I'd bring back Eastern and start with an Atlanta hub using DC-9's because I couldn't afford much else. I'd bring back the Northeast Yellowbirds using DC-9's and a hub in Boston. I'd go from their to Florida, Canada, the west, and London. So I guess I'd also get used DC10's or L1011's. Finally i'd bring back Air Florida and use Miami as a hub connecting the Northeast with the carribean and Latin America. You know by today's standards, Air Florida was actually quite impressive in size compared to other start ups. You don't see today's upstarts gooing to Europe.

Given the chance I would bring back Pan Am.
Service would mainly concentrate on Europe-
"basicaly all the routes that Delta grabbed before letting Pan Am die"... and some domestic flights.
Fleet would consist of:
(3) 747-300s - (2)all pax(1)combi
(1) 747-200F - (leased)
(4) 767-300ERs
(3) 757-200s
Main hub would be JFK, New York with daily service to:
Milan, Rome, Paris, London, Zurich, Brussels,Frankfurt, Miami, L.A.
Airline would have a code share agreement/alliance with Alitalia and KLM.
