It Infuriates Me...

I was listening to a spanish morning show today and they said that British Airways was suing Continental for the Concorde crash. BRITISH AIRWAYS??? Stupid sons of guns. The media is so hideous at times.

May be "British Airways" is a Spanish for "Air France"... but then I'm curious why "Continental is still "Continental"  .

the great Jacques Brel........

A while ago, back right after the Gulf Air A320 crash in Bahrain, I was listening to the news radio station here in San Francisco (KCBS) and the national CBS reporter said "the Airbus A230 jet..." and I just busted out laughing and cringing at the same time, the media can be sooo extremely dumb sometimes!

Its an interesting thought. I'm no legal expert but British Airways have been affected too with the grounding. If they joined forces with Air France it might make a stronger case.

I've often wondered why things like that happen. It seems like when a crash is "hot news" they almost always get the a/c type wrong. I remember first hearing about the Alaska Air crash in the pacific, the channel I was watching said it was a 737.

And the Swiss Air MD-11 they said was a DC-10.. Weird.

BA can't join AF in this case. AF is suing CO because of crash, not because Concorde was grounded. There could be some logic in saying "AF Concorde crashed because of CO aircraft" but never "Concorde was grounded because of CO" as design problems is not a point to blame CO. What looks more logical, if it is proven that not tire pieces but water deflector pieces made fatal damage to the wing/fuel tanks, then BA sues AF since AF didn't modify the part that caused Concorde to be grounded! Of course, if in the same time it is proven that tire pieces not only didn't but couldn't did such a damage. Only then BA planes are safe in case of tire burst. Otherwise there is no point of discussion - except possible future modifications to resume flights.

Ok, BA can't sue but they have lost money through the grounding and they may also blame CO. If this goes to court and BA gets involved (as they possibly will being the other Concorde operator) they are more likely to take Air Frances side than Continentals. If BA can provide support to Air Frances case I think they will.

British Airways has an interest in joining Air France in the lawsuit? I find this extremely ironic if its true. Is it because their Concordes were grounded? Doesn't the very fact that their Concordes being grounded mean that there is more to the crash than a piece of metal? Anyone else see the irony here?

Back to the topic...Media stupidity. Todays CNN web page has a bit about the late Payne Stewart. Did you know that his private jet plane ran out of"gas"??????Lmao!!!!!

Guess the idiots do not know that jets of any size run on Jet "fuel". Too many media writers with a great college degree, but no "degree" of common sense.

"they [BA] may also blame CO" - theoretically yes, but if BA Concordes are the same unsafe in case of tire burst (despite all modifications they did on their fleet that AF didn't) then it could happen to BA Concorde too and they'd rather be thankful to CO that their DC-10 lost the part in CDG before someone else did it in LHR! It's not a legal action that will help the wonderful bird to be back in the sky, and I just wish to both you and me to see it there again. Everything else is of least importance, isn't it?

I read another person's post about the Gulf Air. He heard the news say "the Boeing 320 Aircraft....." LOL!
I've never heard of such mistakes in HK which is good.
