Boeing's First 717

Sat Sep 30, 2000 5:49 am

A long time ago Boeing used the name 717 for something. Perhaps this was an unofficial 727 or 737 name. I just don't recall.

Someone inform me again. What was Boeing's 717 of the 1960s?

Wasn't it like a military 707 or something?

All USAF C135/KC135 and subtypes are REAL B717s.

Initially, the B720 would have been the civil B717 if Boeing hadn't gone for fuselage circumference commonality (for both ease and because the airlines wanted it) on all its airliners (the 135 is narrower).
