WN Will Be No Longer Use Plastic B-pass

Mon Oct 02, 2000 10:43 am

Southwest Airlines (Dallas) is considering getting rid of their plastic reusable boarding passes to reduce the "one hour before" lines at the check-in desks. The company is looking at automating the procedure (issuing paper boarding passes) from kiosks in the terminal.

Southwest will not be Southwest without those passes and everyone crowding the door even though they are number 100!

I think that this is a great move, but it'll only be implemented in airports WN considers major (for instance, where they have deployed their Quicket machines).

I think that this is also to compete a little with the e-Check-In kiosks that are becoming popular...

They could also have the skycaps and counter staff give out a paper tag at the time they check their bags...

This is a positive move for WN...
