Aloha Or Hawaiian?

Which airline do you like better and why? Aloha or Hawaiian? I prefer Aloha because they seem to be more dedicated to being a "native Hawaiian" airline. They also have code-share ties to the mother of all airlines, United. I know United isn't one of the most popular airlines out there, but they are the biggest & most powerful.

So, again, Aloha or Hawaiian?

Hawaiian. I've found their seats seem to be a bit wider and have more legroom than Hawaiian. Also, their mainland service is more convient for me than Aloha's (the flights to Oakland arrive too late for me to make a connection to San Diego, whereas I don't have any problems with Hawaiian's Los Angeles flights).

Having flown both Aloha & Hawaiian for inter-island flights I found them to be virtually identical in terms of service. Basically if you prefer flying the 737 fly Aloha & if you prefer the DC-9 fly Hawaiian. The Hawaiian DC-9’s appeared to be in better condition than the Aloha 737’s but I still prefer the 737 so I’d pick Aloha.

Always have preferred Hawaiian. Have flown both and found in general the Hawaiian planes are far better maintained and cleaner. The Aloha planes are older and frankly look pretty rough. Once HA gets the 717 anyone who still flies Aloha will be nuts!

Your choice, Uneventful flight or bottle top airplanes. Yes it is cruel but frankly why did AQ retire the 733 and 734 interisland flights for 732s? MONEY! HA still flies the D95 and is getting a fleet of new 712s! Nuff said!

for those who don't know, SeaFlight was a highspeed interisland hydrofoil service, in the mid/late '70's, with airline style seating.

I flew Aloha last year from HNL-OGG-HNL. The interiors were kinda dirty, but why complain when it's only a 20 minute flight!? They did serve drinks, so I was suprised by that. The 732's are kinda fun to ride in, so I'd fly on them.

A L O H A

When I was in Hawaii in January, my grandma and I went for a day trip to Kauai (from HNL). We took Aloha, and I was pleasantly surprised with the service. Drinks were served on our 25 minute flight, the F/As were cheerful (and fairly attractive), and we landed on time in both directions. I also liked the scenery announcements, as I had a window seat and could point out some of the sights from my seat. I have never flown Hawaiian, but I will probably chose Aloha when I go back to the islands.

I flew Aloha this summer on there 737-200s. I like there 200 series 737s. How ever, I would never fly there 737-700s over the Pacific for 6 hours from Ca. That leg of the trip, I flew United 747-200.
When United retires there 200 series 747, I'll fly Hawaiian Airlines DC-10s to the Islands. I like Hawaiian's DC-9s also.
When I go to Hawaii, I like to visit the rual island of Molokai. Aloha's subsidiary Island Air flies there Dash 8 turbo props to that island. I'd prefer those over the DC-9.
When I stayed in Hilo, I was near the airport. I loved the loud roar of the old 737s and DC-9s.
I guess I prefer Aloha for inter-island, and Hawaiian for going to Hawaii.
They both operate old classic jets and thats what I like. If Hawaiian goes with 717s inter-island, I wouldn't even consider Hawaiian an option anymore!

RE: Surf
SeaFlight sounds like a great idea!
If both airlines convert to new fleets and do away with Dash 8, I would rather do Seaflight!

This is not an if but when. First 717 delivery is scheduled for February 2001 (final assembly on the first aircraft, l/n 5050, began today, October 3), and by the end of 2001, 13 717s will have been delivered and all of the DC-9-51s are scheduled to have been retired from regular Hawaiian Airlines service.

I would choose Hawaiian over Aloha for inter-island and overseas. Hawaiians DC-9's looked far cleaner and looked in much better shape inside and out than Alohas 737-200's, Hawaiians seats are much more comfy than Alohas. (On both my aloha flights my seat was broken) Anyhow, the inter-island flights are very short so its not really that big of deal. If Aloha was cheaper than Hawaiian than I would fly Aloha, if they were the same price I would fly Hawaiian. As far as overseas goes, I would choose Hawaiian because I wouldnt feel too comfy flying in a 737 overwater (Im not against it, its just I like widebodies), I have had real good overseas service on Hawaiian, and I can get AA Advantage miles.
