That looks amazing. The LH colors are one of my favorite.....particularly on this aircraft. Cant wait to see her in regularly scheduled service to the states!

Will the same crews fly both the 744 and 748 interchangeably?

It could be one of the first, since LH goes with the 744 on DEN-FRA now. And I do believe both airports are ready for it.

I love LH's colors, I am a firm believer in less is more. White and the tail, looks classy

and I assume the aircraft behind the lufthansa is the 747-800 destined for Cargolux?

Man looks awesome. Is the left wing really close to that light pole though? Boeing has been so snake-bit, I would certainly not back it too close to anything!

While it looks simply awesome, I am probably one of the few who is pining for a new livery from LH. And there would be no better aircraft to debut a new livery on than the 748!

delightful! I haven't paid a lot of attention to where the -8s will be deployed. I assume lufti going to keep the -400s for a while, so the -8s are just added capacity where the a380 isn't required?

I know that there is a place for the A380, but this 748 excites me so much more! It isn't just because I think it looks so much better, but that it has evolved from the original 747, and is now the ultimate 74. Boeing will always be my favourite for widebody aircraft, including the 767, especially the 200 International series. I had so many comfortable flights on that aircraft, even when it was full, on YVR-LHR-YVR.
I have never seen an A380, and don't much care. But I can't wait to see the new 748, Hope it will come to YVR!
Cheers,

I believe D-ABYA was the registration used for Lufthansa's first 747-130. So I like that it has come full-circle.

Funny. The 744 is arguably my favorite airplane to look at. The 748, not so much. The stretch looks disproportionate, like a cartoon that got its tail stuck in the door, and the lack of winglets doesn't help.

Is it just me, or does having the extended upper deck really make the ass end of that airplane look like a complete afterthought? I mean, it's a true double decker right up to just forward of the wing, then it just kinda looks like the rest was thrown on... almost like 2 different airplanes were cut in half and glued together.

Maybe it's just the angle, but I'll agree that the 744 is a more proportionate jet.

I was just noticing the gap between windows toward the back of the UD. Is this where the stairs enter the UD from the LD or is that galley space or a lav? I have not seen any schematics of the LH 748I so I am not sure. If the set up mimics the 744, it is probably the stairs but I am just curious.

So happy to see the 747-8I in a revenue passenger livery finally.
Althoughout I'm not a fan of Lufthansa's livery, I am happy to see a new generation of 747s go in to service.

Any chance of a 747-8 with a carrier that uses bare polished metal?
Probably wont happen but I'd love to see American Airlines get this aircraft.

Nope. It looks like an anorexic model with a big head. The extra length make it look a lot skinnier.

No, no drastic changes, but there are some changes. Not only in weights, dimension... But new systems, new procedures. I don't have any information yet. Only some of the training captains and FO's had the difference course yet. But the other pilots to follow.

Could we see the 747-800 fly into Washington Dulles? Personally I think it would be wisest thing to do. They already send their A380 to New York (well in summers but still), and in Dulles I think they have one of the worst products among the airlines from Europe and the Middle East. Those 747-400s are really uncomfortable and outdated. I mean, even Air France sends their A380s there now.

There is simply something in the LH livery that makes it timeless and makes every plane good looking. No matter how hard I try to explain it to myself, as it is just another euro-white scheme, yet it is so classy and elegant as well as modern. The 748i in that livery is no exception.

...bye the way, any info on the introduction of a new Business class on the 748i? It was rumored that LH will roll out their new Business Class on the 748i. Also what will F be like? will it be like the ones they introduced on the A380 or like the refurbished ones on their 744s? All in all any, info on seat arrangement yet?

Congrats to Boeing and Lufthansa, and a big kick of dirt into the faces of all those who where hyping and betting on the cancellation of the 748i orders and the program as is
