LHR A380 Spotters Delight (due QF A380)

Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:49 pm

Due to an mx issue there will be 3 QF A380s in LHR tomorrow. They won't be parked up together, but along with SQ and EKs A380s there should be at least 5 there tomorrow (Monday) possibly also on Tuesday too.

Lucky LHR.

I thought LAX would be there by now. Thankfully the production rate is rising.

Seven then?
SQ have 2 / 3 daily flights on the A380
EK have 2 / 5 daily flights on the A380
QF would have 3 / 4 daily

There are four A380 stands on T3 so shouldn't be an issue.

There were 7 counted at LHR yesterday (Sunday, Sep 4th) as F-WWDD joined the regular 6 over at the BA Family day...

Don't get confused with gates and stands. Currently there are four active A380 GATES at terminal 3, but quite a few A380 remote stands dotted all over the airport - ours are parked at 594/595/596 daily. We have parked them at T4 and T2 remote stands at irregular intervals too. Over at T5 there are quite a few gates that are A380 compatible but have not been used/tested as yet in that capacity.

Yes and Saturday was BA Executive Club day out to see the airplanes. Concorde G-BOAB was taken out of the pen and shown out in the open for the weekend.

The Airbus colours 380 was a nice addition to the group. Those invited got to tour the inside complete with water tanks and onboard electronics. The perfect testing machine.

Many 380s are coming in and out of LHR nowadays and there will be many more to come. They have become quite a common sight yet still impressive to watch at landing and taxiing with their massive wings.

I arrived at LHR from Singapore on flight SQ 308 on board 9V-SKB first commercial A380 to fly into a European airport. It was also the first long haul flown by the aircraft commercially. Took us 13 hours and 30 minutes from take off to landing. There was quite a party atmosphere on board. Truly unforgettable.

Now there are many many passengers taking off and landing at Heathrow on board A380s with many more to come!

There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde
