What Is JetBlue Doing In Fargo

Sat Sep 10, 2011 12:08 am

There's currently a JetBlue A320 (sorry, couldn't make out the registration) sitting in Fargo. It apparently came from PIT this morning. Does anybody know what it's doing in KFAR? Driving by the airport today, I almost hoped they had finally decided to serve Fargo. But that doesn't seem to be the case.....(yet?)

I'd assume it was a charter for St. Francis University (PA) who are in Fargo to play North Dakota St. tomorrow.

Interestingly enough, I was about to ask what a jetBlue A320 was doing at PIT while driving home

Someone should ask them to stick around. FAR is quite pricey especially after F9 left the market and their spot was filled by American Eagle.

But where would they go to? JFK? LGB? WN would do better in FAR.

JFK. I think FAR is too small for WN, not that I would complain.

Certainly. Really, the best candidate for low cost service to FAR other than Frontier and Allegiant would have been AirTran, but that ship has sailed.

JFK.

I'm not entirely sure the FAR-JFK market can sustain service.

A bridge too far, perhaps? Somebody had to say it.

College football in the United States is BIG $

The University of Missouri showed up in a North American 767-300 in PHX Thursday for their Friday night game against Arizona State. Was quite impressed as Missouri played in a bowl game out here last year and showed up in a Sun Country 737. (actually I think Mizzou was supposed to show up in a North American 757 last Thursday but got swapped for a 767)

San Diego State University F9 charter stopped in PHX Thursday night for a gas n go for their trip to New York State to play Army. Their plane was delayed several hours too due to the power outage in California but the fuel stop was planned before that. Kinda perplexed me as an A319 should have been able to do that non stop. Must have been WX back east that made them have to carry more fuel to their destination.

I saw it on my way to work too and wondered the same thing, but I was more interested in Bob Odegaard's F2G Super Corsair "Race 74" which sitting by the fuel pumps, and was about to take off for its second flight since restoration.

I think the people of FAR blew their only chance at low cost service by not supporting Frontier. They certainly embraced the lower fares, but flew UA considerably more than they did F9. When F9 left the market, fares, naturally, skyrocketed. It's not likely that any other LCC will take a chance there now. "It's their own fault" an acquaintance of mine commented.

I don't think FAR can really support much more service. They have MQ to ORD, UA to DEN and ORD, G4 to AZA, SFB, LAX and LAS, and DL to MSP and SLC. That is a pretty good amount of service for a city the size of Fargo. People will just have to settle for G4 if they want low fares.

Actually they flew in on G4 on a MD-83 last year for the bowl game.
