Otherwise a good idea but when you look at what QANTAS stands for it would be Queensland And Northern Territory Aerial Service Asia which doesn't sound that appealing nor sane to me. And it's kind of generic to just ad the region at the end of the previous name albeit done very frequently.
Hardly. Though it is well known that the name originated from that acronym 90 years ago, it is now very definitely Qantas (note non-capitalisation of the rest of the letters). They fly to every state of Australia now, and are based in New South Wales. They've moved out of the place they grew up, and though they don't forget their roots, they are definitely not "Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Service".
However, I don't think Qantas Asia is a good name. Nor, however, do I like RedQ... I think airline names are reaching increasingly into the generic and bizarre (Peach, anyone?). I think having "Asia" in the name will limit them, as will having "Australia". I actually like the idea of building a brand around the word "Empire". They could be "Flying to an Empire of destinations". And you could "Be treated like Royalty".
After all, this new airline really is just the Emperor's New Clothes, isn't it?
