Southern Star Launches As National Flag Carrier

Thu Sep 15, 2011 10:12 pm

The newly birthed nation of South Sudan has gotten into the aviation business with the launch of Southern Star as their national flag carrier. The airline will take to the skies with a Dash 8-100 and hopes to have 2 E145s by the end of the year.

I hope it works out for them as they may be able to get a premium from all the aid agencies flying in there now. I think JUB at this point is pretty well covered with the exception of a Europe flight. Welcome to the aviation family Southern Star.

Maybe they're taking Frank Zappa to heart : "You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline." They seem to now have both covered. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/africa/article5342339.ece
