TU-204 At Westover Mass?

Thu Sep 22, 2011 3:02 am

I could be totally off the mark here, but today at around noon, I saw on final approach into CEF what looked alot like a TU-204. I checked a flight tracking website and did not find anything...the only similar aircraft that arrived around that time was a Sky King 737-200. The plane I saw was no -200. White fuselage with gold banding around the area ahead of the wings. Shape looked alot like a TU-204. Anybody have any imput what this aircraft movement was all about? Or if it was not a TU...what was it? Thanks.

The Russian government and the Palestinian National Authority both operate Tu-204s.

Apparently the plane arrived here for a U.N. meeting in New York. Air Force One was here as well, parked here as the base is the largest secure area to lay them over. Don't know if there were other planes that arrived.

The Palestinian National Authority? I wasn't aware of this. Any more information or even a picture (although I assume there will be not much more as a sticker)?

PS.: have you moved? what happened to your flag?

True, but the Russian Government would use an IL-96 as per protocol for a flight of that length.
As far as the Palestinian Tu-204, it is "economic aid" from the Russian Federation to the Palestinians and I am not sure if it is yet ready and flying with them. If it is, the photos are going to be quite hard to get.

I'm not the guy your thinking of. He's 328JET. I've got Dornier up front. Sorry for the confusion

Might be Orel Avia RA-64009? There's no photo at Airliners yet, here's a link to another site:

Petertenthije....that's the plane I saw fly over...I can only assume it had something to do with the UN meeting in New York and the aircraft being ferried up here for parking at a secure military base.

The Russians did use an Il-96, arrived on Monday...

Easy reason. Why would they want to show off the pic with this site taking the revenue. You can see the photo by going to http://www.planes.cz/cs/ and browsing Tu-204 aircraft.
next up: YYC, SFO, SYD, AKL, WLG, CMB, BKK, SIN, FRA, VCE, JFK

Yes, but that is not the President's or the Prime Minister's plane. 96019 does not have any "special equipment" onboard. The President uses 96012 or 96016. 96019 has a First Class config for the whole aircraft and is used by support staff. An IL-76 is used for the presidential limo.

Where would the Palestinian aircraft be based since there is no operating airport in the Palestinian territories since Israel bombed and then bulldozed the runway a decade ago at the new Gaza airport that had operated for a couple of years? I remember Bombardier had a couple of CRJ-200s ready for delivery to Palestinian Airlines about the time their airport was destroyed. One of them below in storage at YUL.

I have no clue where it is going to be based at, but we did give them an old Tu-204 as part of their economic aid package.
