"...an added benefit of the service being private is that you avoid airport security"

Why do private jet passengers avoid airport security?

For the same reason you do not need to pass through security to get into your own personal car. It is a mode of personal transportation, to establish airline style security for GA is not only an infringment on personal liberties, it has been shown to be cost prohibitive. However, the TSA contines to push for some form of security in GA especially for larger aircraft, the aphabet groups (AOPA, NBAA, etc) have and will continue to fight it.

There are some additional security requirements for aircraft weighing more than 12,500 pounds, but not the same extent as airline operations. There are even more requirements for larger aircraft (more than 100,000ish pounds).

Here's a link to some additional info on the 12-5 program: http://www.nbaa.org/ops/security/programs/tfssp/
and the PCSSP: http://www.nbaa.org/ops/security/programs/pcssp/

I work part-time as a flight attendant for a private jet operator, and normally the scheduler's and most of the crew members know the clients. There are also many things that happen behind the scenes, that passengers don't know about to enhance security.

Corporate private jet operations have detailed tracking of passenger identities and their history of flights for IRS record keeping requirements.

While people do not have to go through a personal screening before boarding a 'private aircraft' their identity must be confirmed.

Rather than being treated as intruders who are potentially a risk to the aircraft, private jet passengers are treated as valued customers who need to be kept happy and who need 'risky' people kept away from them.

also think about this, 14 FBOs at TEB, 13 at HPN, 9 at PBI, London Luton and Paris Le Bourge have a bunch FBOs peppered all over the airport too,.... TSA can't set up their little car-wash style security system at every FBO on the field.

Then there are some small fields in the middle of nowhere where there isn't even an FBO.

As much as they want to though
