WOW

Very lucky that no one died in this.

From the news article, the plane took off from a nearby airfield, did not gain enough altitude, hit the ferries wheel that had 2 kids on it trapping them for 90 miniutes. It did not topple over, and everyone got off ok.
(The views on this site are my own and no one elses)

Stunning! Incredible to see the 'frail' wheel structure withstood the impact, held the aircraft and remained 'strong enough' to maintain sufficient integrity during the rescue to stay in one piece!

Clips are appearing on youtube too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5spm-UH8DmY
It's better to ask a stupid question during training, rather than make a REALLY stupid mistake later on!

The article says ultralight, in which Australia isn't alone in calling it that. Here in the U.S., that particular model would be classified as a Sport class.

Anyhow. very lucky for all involved. Nothing was mentioned about the engines losing power, so perhaps it was overloaded?

So, I am wondering: Ultra Light Planes can fly everywhere they want without any kind of ATC?.
Thanks a lot
