EK, EY And India

Tue Oct 04, 2011 3:33 pm

I'm just looking for some information....if anybody has numbers.

Does anybody know the details of the bilat between India and the UAE?

And does anybody know how many seats and frequencies EK and EY have to India?

QR page 91
EK (ok) Dubai on page 95. (Note: I recall a flight cap too, but the pdf doesn't list it.)

I'm not certain, but I believe EY is part of the old Gulf Air bilateral and thus is 11,186 seat/week (pg. 81).

India usually includes an aircraft size limit ("capacity not exceeding B747" or a seat cap of 250 or 400 is very typical). I do not see this with the Qatar/UAE bilaterals in this document, but it is certainly in the long form keeping EK's A380s out of India.

Something isn't adding up in my link. Mea Culpa.

It misses 2006? 2007? and a 2008 bilateral expansion. oops...

What I get for posting that circa 2005 information link. So everything will be 'out of date' as that is when massive bilateral expansions occurred.

The latest I found for EY was circa 2007, but I swear they expanded (only tried?) later:

I did not find a great link for the expanded QR bilaterals. But it appears QR is not keeping up there end:

There is a typo. I believe QR is limited to ~24k passengers per week (not flights per week!).

I can't remember where I downloaded it from but a copy of the UAE (Dubai) MOU dated 10th May 2007, gives the following weekly figures for EK with effect from July 2008 -

Mumbai 7299
Delhi 4,559
Chennai 3,607
Kolkata 2,000
Kochi 2,785
Hyderabad 2,750
Thiruvananthapuram 2,000
Bangalore 2,100
Ahmedabad 2,000
Total 29,100

Sorry, I haven't come across anything more recent.

While the MOU gave the Indian side full rights operate to Dubai via any intermediate points and beyond with 5th freedom rights, the UAE (Dubai) side were granted roghts via intermediate points and beyond, without 5th freedom unless specifically agreed.
