Steve Jobs Private Plane

Thu Oct 06, 2011 2:04 am

Does anyone know how Steve Jobs had a private jet? We all know about Microsoft's Paul Allen's private plane(s), but what about the late Steve Jobs?

If I recall correctly? He received a G-V from Apple when he returned to the company.

I may assume that you coincidently started this thread ahead of the news that Steve Jobs just passed away.

So my condolence to him and his family at the first place.

For the subject I do not have a contribution due to no information

regards

Marmalade Skies ... from the LSD song ... which was recorded before the Apple label years. Cute!

Based at KSCK I believe.

Many Silicon Valley corps base planes at outlying airports such as KSCK for cheaper fuel and due to limited hangar space at KSJC. KMRY, KMCC also popular.

FAA.gov has it registered as a G-V, and Steve Jobs still owns it apparently. Or rather, his estate does.

I find it interesting that he worked WITHOUT pay according to the info on this A.Net picture...

Yes, $1 and all the perks was his salary. That included stock (though not nearly as much as some CEO/founders have), expenses, medical, transportation (including the jet).
Quoting sw733 (Reply 13):
That's actually not uncommon. I would say he probably worked for $1/year rather than zero pay whatsoever, which I believe was still is salary when he left the company. There are many CEOs who work for something ridiculous like that and make their riches off of stock. I believe it was just announced that Meg Whitman @ HP will do the same.

SW733 is right. Worked "without pay" (well, $1) is very misleading - though it does sound very good when you hear it. The actual salary (no matter the dollar amount) most, if not all, CEOs get at Fortune 500 companies makes up a very small percentage of their total compensation package.
That's not how this works! That's not how any of this works!

Yes, N2N, a G-V was his jet. My question now is: Who will own the plane?

In the short term his estate. Ultimate ownership would be determined by the direction within his last will and testament.

If he owned it then whoever he left it to in his will, or if nobody then it automatically goes to his wife (at least that's what would happen under the law here in Australia). Or if Apple still owns it then the obviously still do, and I imagine that they'll continue using it.

It is a fair and timely question given the circumstances...as a corporate jet photographer I was wondering the same thing...and true to form...the answer to my question already posted on A/net. Thnxmuch...

Wow -- most others jump through great hoops to obscure the ownership of their jets, forming holding comapnies (Blue City Holdings, anyone?), or whatever... How many jets are registered to Wells Fargo?
