This one's not a commercial, it's a promo for the Australian ABC network back in 1972, featuring preperations for a TAA (now QF
domestic) flight. Both TAA & QF
were government owned til the mid 90's, so no issues with using the state-owned TV
network to 'promote' an airline...
Another TAA commercial from 1984, promoting their 3-class cabins. First class died out domestically here sometime in the 90's.
TAA was renamed Australian Airlines in 1986 (proably in preperation for privitisation - they ended up being merged into QF
in the early 90's.) The 'back to normal' line in the ad would place it just after the 1989 pilots stike
A Qantas commercial from the early 70's, showing the bar in the 747 upper deck - this would have been a cinema commercial, being in colour & it's length. No colour TV
here until 1975...
And finally, another Australian cinema commercial from the early 70's, this one for Pan Am. What more would you want in an airline ad. A hot blonde pax, travelling SYD
via Bali, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Beiruit & Rome. A trip that would have been VERY costly back then, this chick was no 'hippy trail' traveller.... One of the youtube comments puts it perfectly - 'Who is this chick and who gave her permission to live this fabulously......, and why didnt she take me with her? LOL'
Essendon - Whatever it takes......
