At LAX, Will I See An A380?

Fri Oct 14, 2011 1:19 am

I'm at LAX for the next 4 hours. Will I be lucky to see an A380??? I'm at AA AAdmirals club facing the International Terminal.

Not sure of the exact departure times, but you may catch a glimpse of the QF A380

I'd think that Qantas has at least one sitting over on the north side of LAX. I doubt if they'll move over to the TBT until late tonight.

Is QF on the south side terminals?

During the day, the QF A380s are usually near the AA maintenance base getting serviced.

Correct... SQ and KE are daytime arrivals and departures

I've been at LAX this week - QF has had a 388 at TBIT by 2100 local. I can't vouch for whether this is normal, but it seems to be the trend recently.

QF12 departs at 2230, so 2100 seems pretty standard. If the gate's available and empty then they might as well start getting the plane cooled down and ready as early as possible.

Do the 380s always land on the north side, or can they land on the south runways as well?

The QF ones always use the North runways -- not sure about SQ, but I imagine the Southern runways are probably okay since they just need to make it to NRT.

380 utilizes both sides of the airport.

Look in the photo db and you’ll see plenty of Southside shots also.
