Emirates Hit New Pax Record At FCO

Wed Oct 19, 2011 11:18 pm

For the 3rd time in the last 2 months EK over-passed the 1.000 pax carried from Rome to Dubai in a single day.
This always occurred whenever EK scheduled a 3rd B-77W extra daily flight in some specific dates in order to accomodate the increasing demand for seats on the route.

Emirates Italia, in a press release, today refers the following numbers

From FCO to DXB

06 Aug : 1.005 pax
03 Oct : 1.014 pax
08 Oct : 1.025 pax

with also 37-to-42 [t] of belly cargo carried each/day

Total capacity offered in those days was around 1.060/1.090 seats (3 daily B77W in 3 classes).
The last one (1.025 pax) is so far the historical record for EK in Italy from a single airport, in a single day, one direction.
Eff from 01DEC EK will introduce new A380 service to FCO, with a total of 5 daily flights to the country (2 Rome, 2 Milan, 1 Venice).
Rumors abound that more flights are coming to the 3 Italian destinations in the near future.

Impressive and why FCO will see the A380. Is there a curfew or will FCO eventually become a European connection for EK's 4th hub wave?

Interesting that if Wikipedia is correct, it looks like IST is the competition with DXB.
