China Southern Airlines A380 Internal Cabin Photos

Fri Oct 21, 2011 5:20 am

Hi all

The first Interior Cabin Photos of China Southern Airlines A380 have been made available via the Business Travel Guru website, the photographs show the aircrafts first class platinum suite, business class seat as well as one of the aircraft 3 on board bars.

China Southern Airlines A380 Interior Cabin Photos

Quality wise the interior cabin does not look to be in the league of SIA, Qantas, Korean Air or Air France's implementation of the A380.

In addition the site has also published a quality version of the aircrafts seat map, better quality than the photo of the seat map which FlightGlobal published back in March year. Can anyone that knows mandarin, translate the text?

The materials do not look as rich, but the seats themselves are quite nice. The first class isn't quite seats, but would compare favorably with many airlines. The business class seats look very nice and are comparable to what one would find on Emirates' A380s or Etihad.

Looks a bit bare at the moment, but once there are pillows on those seats and maybe some mood lighting (assuming CZ has/uses it) I think it could look really warm and welcoming...

I like it but the F Class looks very clinical. I like clinical but it needs something more.

Its great to see a new A380 operator though .

and Emirates with all the gold and glitz!

I saw the live delivery ceremony broadcast on the Airbus dedicated web page. The whole VVIP group toured the aircraft and we could watch them going through the aircraft cabins.

I did not think much of the First or Business product I saw but I guess it will be fine as long as their clients are happy with it. They also have the possibility to fly with the competition for different products.

I still like the SQ 380 Suite best.

That's a bare cabin at the moment. Once they get the plastic off the floor and some cushions scattered here and there it will look lovely. Surprised they don't have lace curtains on the window? They love lace in China.

Fantastic news. An internal hop in First is probably a lot cheaper than an international flight so well worth the money.

This is the sort of style that many Asian people like -- the very clean, no fuss and non-offensive style. I daresay that most of the Asian carriers will have this sort of product (TG is planning white Suites for F too from the CGI). SQ is far more westernised compared with CZ, KE etc hence their more Western-style styling.

I dont recall seeing this clinical look in any Asian airline ads dating back 20-30 years, its not Asian at all, this trend may be more Korean and Japanese since they became ultra-tech savvy.

Really cold sterile bare plastic-like industrial with no sense of luxury. I guess we are talking about a communist state's national airline here so I would say not to expect much.

I don't mean to sound pretentious but looking at the pictures, I find it both F and J most uninviting. Its clinical and looks cheap. Not what I'd want to see when I step into a medium/long flight. I'd go with SQ or EK's A380s.. but then again, I could be wrong.. Maybe those seats really are really comfortable.

*edit: Okay, cheap is too strong a word for a cabin product I've only seen in pictures. Shamrock604's description of "dull and austere" better describes my impression.

Way too sterile and the seats look like they've been pulled from my dentists surgery

LH has flowers, so does TG and EK is the only middle east carrier one with wood and gold, none of the others have it.

...Don't be so critical about the colour scheme

If you check out the cabin pictures of KE with their A380, or JL and NH F/C you will see that this kind of colour scheme and design is what the airlines have chosen. I am sure it is to do with the client preferences, not theirs! They must have done their product research surely.

Saw pictures of the new cabin in several places and at least Y on the A380 looks even better than what's on CZ's A330s. The AVOD system looks very similar to what's installed on KL's 77Ws. J looks very decent, but I'm kinda amused at the choice of dark purple for F. I'm not getting the feel of dark purple and white for some reason.

I'm certainly hoping though that the seats look much better in person.

Terrible colors in my opinion. First class seats from Soul Plane, Business Class seats from the dentists office. Great combo.

For me, I prefer warm-colored seats (warm and inviting). This just looks cold, bland, and really wouldn't set me in the "ahh" mood by sitting in one as much as a warm colored -- warm interiored aircraft would.

Business class here is implemented the right way - no angled seats, and a great choice to make for either the business man traveling solo, or a couple traveling together.

They probably should have done downstairs as all-economy - but other than that, it looks like a very prudent layout overall.

I'm not a fan of the color scheme but the seats themselves, in both F and J, actually look pretty state-of-the-art. Certainly the seating arrangement in J is superior to what AF, LH, QF and KE have all installed in their A380 fleets.

You just have to look at the products that the Asian airlines are coming out with to recognise that this is what their customers like -- NH 787, KE A380, CZ A380, TG F, CA fully flat J etc. it's the same if you go and visit major centres in China, Japan etc -- everything is clean and tidy, and very little is overly designed/styled.

It could be called a global trend with its Asian roots developing from Japan or North East Asia now sadly tricling down Southeast, however its odd that this cold culture was not required on aircraft back then even though it was in practice in places like Japan on land.

Definitely more superior than AF and LH but i don't think it is more superior than QF or KE. As a matter of fact, the J seats QF and KE have on their 388 have just as much legroom that go fully flat but with far greater seat width than any airlines opting to squeeze in 1-2-1 (staggered) in their Business Class cabin.

32" is the industry's standard. After all, most airlines operating the 388 feature just 32" of seat pitch in Y on their 388 with KE being the only exception. KE offers 34" of seat pitch in Y on their 388

It gets the job done. I wasn't expecting flashy, elegant, state-of-the-art premium cabins with CZ. It's very bland, boring, sterile and cheap, but I guess it's good enough for CZ.

It could be called a global trend with its Asian roots developing from Japan or North East Asia now sadly tricling down Southeast, however its odd that this cold culture was not required on aircraft back then even though it was in practice in places like Japan on land.

I wouldn't blame this on the Japanese at all. Especially not if you're comparing it to things "on land" there. This is the country that still has this for travel from Kyoto to Sapporo:

That's the Twilight Express, and it is perpetually sold out.

But even the shinkansen are not as clinical and cold as this A380 interior. Heck, even their McDonalds' look upscale!

Japan only has two large international airlines (as opposed to many different train lines), so you can't really take them as wholly indicative of the public's tastes, but even among those two, JAL's skysleeper seats look like this:

Hardly the dull hospital look of this China Southern A380.
