Was operating as AC850 from YYC-LHR and diverted into LGW (not sure why, LHR seemed to be fully open this morning). Landed LGW at 10:06 and departed for LHR at 11:51, arriving into LHR at 12:42 (51 mins for a 25km flight!).

I've flown on this aircraft
Next flight: Feb 2012 - BHX-CPH-BHX - SK MD87 / CRJ900

That confirms the story my wife told me. She just returned on that same aircraft from LHR-YYC and they were late getting into YYC. The reason given, was that the aircraft that they were flying out of LHR on, had been diverted to LGW because of prolonged stacking/circling prior to landing at LHR (on the YYC-LHR in bound route), they ended up landing at LGW, because of "low fuel", and presumably going on to LHR.

This is interesting. I am amazed no one has reported here their experience of flying this route YYC-LGW-LHR !! I would have really loved flying from LGW to LHR in a wide-body !

@ aircanada014

Typically ferry flights within the London TMA are below 10,000ft. I have done LTN-STN at 3,000ft and STN-LGW at 8,000ft, if I recall correctly.

LGW to LHR is pretty standard off 26L, right turn to climb and join the stack at Biggin then circle until the queue starts moving. Could be a long flight in peak holding

At that time, you could probably do the M23/M25 faster than 51 mins! Did wonder why I saw it holding as I was on the nua from X.
