Status Of Aires Integration Into LAN Group?

Tue Oct 25, 2011 12:47 pm

Just curious where this stands. Have AIRES planes already been re-painted? Has the brand transition and operational integration already happened? What is to happen next in terms of operational integration as well as in terms of route network and fleet?

Thanks

I flew out of BOG yesterday and saw one Dash painted in LAN colours. Apparently there is also a B737 painted, but didn't see it.

Aires is at the moment still Aires. But they have already started to repaint some of it's aircrafts.

Also two future A320s were stored in BOG in LAN colors with small Aires titles.

LAN Colombia will launch during December, 2011 with a fleet of 27 aircraft including 9 B-737-700s, 4 A-320s, and 14 Dash-8-Q400/Q200 aircraft. LAN is currently re-branding AIRES, which includes painting all AIRES' aircraft with the LAN livery, migrating AIRES to LAN’s IT systems and designing new marketing initiatives aimed at integrating Colombia into LAN’s regional network.

LAN Airlines is rapidly moving ahead with the re-branding process of AIRES into LAN Colombia. AIRES will start operating three LAN branded A-320s beginning in November. After initially cutting capacity at AIRES as part of the airline's restructuring process, LAN Colombia will resume expansion in 2012 in the Colombian domestic market and will increase domestic capacity by 10%. LAN will eventually replace AIRES' entire fleet of 9 B-737-700 a/c with A-320 family a/c. This will provide commonality with the rest of the narrow-body fleet at both LAN and TAM. However, LAN has not publicly stated if it will retain AIRES’ turboprop fleet, although the turboprops will likely be returned to lessors when their respective leases expire. According to LAN's most recent fleet plan, LAN Colombia will continue to operate 11 Dash-8 a/c well into 2014. LAN's fleet plan for Q4 2011 includes incorporating 6 new A-320 family a/c and 2 B-767-316ERs into the fleet. Next year, LAN will incorporate 13 new A-320 family a/c, five B-787-8 Dreamliners, seven new B-767-316ERs, and two B-777Fs into the fleet. Meanwhile, three of AIRES' B-737-700s will be returned to their lessors and five A-318s that are already sold will leave LAN's fleet next year.

Effective November 1, 2011, AIRES will display LAN Airlines’ code LA on its flight numbers, replacing its own “4C” coded flight numbers:

Bogota – Armenia (LA315x)
Bogota – Barranquilla (LA312x)
Bogota – Bucaramanga (LA316x)

Any Boeing aircraft with winglets in LAN colors is a VERY good looking airplane, IMHO.

LAN's Colombian cargo affiliate, Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia S.A. currently operates two B-767-316F/ERs with winglets. Also, LAN Colombia will eventually operate brand new B-767-316ERs with winglets.
