Tue Oct 25, 2011 5:05 pm

According aviaport.ru, the two ex Kras Air Il-96-300 wich were stored will be back in service for Russian presidential administration.
The work will be done by VASO.
Good to see these two birds back in the air.

That's great news. I always thought the Il-96 was a smart looking plane.

Great news that a few more are getting back in the air. I really like the IL 96 a shame it didn't go much of anywhere. Alas the curse of immediately postwar Russian aircraft.

Still would love to see an IL 96 with GTF's under the wings. Never going to see it, but would be a great looking aircraft with quite improved performance I'd assume...

I don't see the Russian aviation industry going for it though (probably a good thing) because as much as one might like to think otherwise it'd have little to no place in the market against 787s, 777s, A350's etc...
