MIA Tops Nation In Air Passenger Increases

Thu Oct 27, 2011 6:06 pm

Article from a weekly Miami Newspaper discussing how MIA leads the nation so far this year in increase in passenger numbers at 7% increase from year to date. Ahead of PHX, LAX, LAS, MCO etc..
"Miami International Airport's passenger traffic is growing faster this year than any other major US airport.
Miami International drew 25.81 million passengers from January through August, up 7% from 24.12 million during the same period last year, newly released air traffic statistics show."

also from the article:

"Most of the growth in Miami came from international passengers, up 8.7% to 13.72 million from January through September, statistics show."

Of course much of this increase can be seen in AA's increase in service from MIA. Also MIA has seen increase service from other airlines like DL new LHR and LAX flights. Even with the struggling economy which is worse here in South Florida than most of the nation MIA has been gaining flights. Also in the paper was a short article about TAP's new MIA-LIS service and how it has done well for being a new non-stop transatlantic service.
"It was just four of us on the flight deck, trying to do our job" (Captain Al Haynes)
