With the initial success of Airbus new A320 NEO program, and the hundreds of orders piling up within just a few days/weeks of the announcement, it is no surprise that the A320 is the bestseller in Airbus. In a way Airbus was smart with their move. Obviously, Airbus and Boeing are the two biggest commerical plane makers, and a move by Airbus has been counter-met with a move by Boeing. Airbus's strategy was to re-engine the A320 with minor structural modifications--which forced Boeing to go for a similar move with their Boeing 737's.
The question is, with practically ALL new commercial planes created by Boeing and Airbus facing excessive delays (A380's, B787's, B748, A350 apparently...) what are the chances, of A and B facing delays with their A320NEO's and B737's?
Are there any indications that such a delay might happen? And what would the consequences of such a delay be?
