Now it's time for ALPA, IAM, and AFA (I wish) to get their acts together, along with management. Good news.

ALPA has its act together. Management is stonewalling. They won't agree to a contract until they want to agree to a contract or until we get released to self help. Merry Christmas.

I am not so sure..The UAL mechanics by and large hate the IBT more than any other union they have ever had. I do not see anything the IBT brings back being accepted by the rank and file mechanics. Just my opinion.

Here are some highlights that were emailed to me:

-Maintain current UA medical benefits.
-Signing bonus of $11,500.
-Early out program with a max of $75,000 per eligible employees.
-Same pay scale as CO mechanics.

UA's negotiating team is good. With Christmas right around the corner a pay raise and a huge signing bonus is a great incentive for UA mechanics to ratify this contract.
Is it broke...? Yeah I'll fix it.

That is true about the stonewalling. The Pilot negotiations will be the toughest, and will decide a lot of things. I don't know how are the AFA negotiations are proceeding, but we (the IAM) will be negotiating again soon. Someone (Jeff) said in particular that all labor contracts won't be ironed out till next year. Well if the MX (UA side) agree (they turned down the last TA) this would be a suprise. But then again, there is only about a little over a month and a half left and the holidays are coming up, so expect the other contracts to be done in 2012.

Hopefully we can get a contract before the Customer Service (above wing) elections, (sometime next year: probably Feb or Mar.) but I doubt it.

Just reading the above, I think this will be ratified. I know a guy on the negotiating comiitte and the important thing was to maintain current medical benefits. Nice to get such a big sgining bonus.
