Revised TS Livery NOV 15 2011

Fri Nov 11, 2011 9:51 pm

Been given the heads up that on Nov 15 2011...unsure of time the first A330 with a revised livery (revision from the new one with welcome in different languages on the tail) will be at the TS hangar at YUL.

Not another revision...... how many is that in past 10 years. So much for airline money worries.... The language livery was a disaster and who ever came up with it should be fired.

Thank god. The livery was absolutely horrendous. AIr Transat has the opportunity to do something inspiring.

They should put a big Maple Leaf on the fuselage and over it should say Canadian and Proud!!! Thats what I would do if I was Canadian and working for Air Transat. What a brilliant sight it would look here at LGW amongst all the easyJet.

Great start! Though, I did actually like the different languages idea, in concept at least.

Brilliant idea, just executed poorly. It could have looked a lot better than it did.

No complaints here.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with... I hope it is more "interesting" than their last one (the plane logo on blue did look very "generic").

Wouldn't there be copyrite infringements with Air Canada over that? Even though it would be on fuselage instead of tail?

I didn't think it looked that bad. I only seen it on one A330 though at MCO. Did they have the A310s painted too?

Only 1 A330 and 1 A310 got that paint job.

Taking this photo as a base, the tail goes back to the previous version - (as such, I'm not sure if the star on the body stays as well, or if it's removed - since it's on the tail) -

the 'Air transat' will stay as is

the various "welcome" will stay (might not be in the same order as above) but will be placed on a dark blue background.

Overall, I think it'll be an improvement, but I guess we'll have to wait and see!!!

Well im sure they could try and sort a livery which wouldn't bother Air Canada.

looks pretty good, taking all the good parts and putting them together. Not sure about the position of "Air" above the Transat.

Heaven help us, another one?! And people used to complain that DL changed too frequently! (Well, it did, but that's beside the point.)

I'm not sure if AC can copyright the idea of putting a maple leaf on an airplane. It is the national symbol of Canada; it would be kind of like saying only AA can use an eagle or LX the Swiss cross, etc.

So only two aircraft got the "new" livery.

How is this affected by TS's overall fleet plan? From what I understand, they are getting rid of some of their A310s starting next year. So it would make sense to put it on the A330s first, and hold off on the A310s, depending on how many they keep.

Taken an awful livery, made it really quite pleasant and individual. I really like this.

Not bad at all. Much better than the all white fuselage covered with "welcome" all over it. As someone already noted the position of "air" seems a bit awkward otherwise quite pleasing to the eye. What do the interiors look like? Do they reflect the outside colors or simply the generic airline blue so prevelant nowadays.

Hadnt realised the first in the new livery was the ex TCX G-TCXA. Shame to see long haul dwindle from TCX.

I like it! This is how I imagined the 'Welcome' livery all along. As for the placement of 'Air', I actually kind of like it.

The national symbol of Canada is also the symbol of AC. Legally, a pax-carrying airline cannot use the likeness of another pax-carrying airline causing confusion. Using the leaf on the fuselage instead of the tail doesn't make a difference because the leaf (the symbol in this case) is still present on the aircraft.

Is there anyone else that thought of LAN when you first saw the pictures of the new livery?

Looks good! A big improvement over the scribble they slapped on the tail before. Now it's back to being easily identifiable and actually an eye catcher. Thanks God someone there came to their senses.

Yes lhr380. You beat me to it though. If I saw one of those flying I would do a double take and check my eyes thinking it is a LAN 767-300 with the winglets if it was flying more than a couple thousand feet up.

This may be a silly question but do you think LAN might try to say there is a copyrite infringement even though the colors are slightly different?

Why not just paint the aircraft with the Canadian Flag, rather than a lookalike LAN livery.

I would have to say no, even though the overall design may look the same, the actual lines are different, but also in the grand scheme of the livery, Transat just added to their base livery (minor modification at the front, the fin is the same, just the aft fuselage has been changed...)

I would think these 2 have alot more in common...

Interesting remark on the LAN comparison. It never even occurred to me and I don't see it as a copy. Lots of airlines use this rear fuselage livery style and both their star logos have been around for a while without either one accusing the other of copying them. I even wonder which one came first? Transat's had a Star on it's tail since it began. To me this is a non issue. I Like this new look, it's a lot better than a lot of other carrier's efforts at rebranding themselves and it's a big improvement over the mess they came up before this.
