Building A Sukhoi Superjet 100

Wed Nov 16, 2011 6:13 am

Remarkable factory shots

The Superjet is a seriously hand built aircraft.

Nice that the Russians have begun flush riveting now.
Why do Aerospace Engineering students have to turn things in on time?

Wow! Some guy out there is one lucky man! I can't get my wife to go in the garage let alone flush rivet an aircraft frame.

Cool photos! Thanks for posting those!

I know the feeling buddy, the looks you get when you suggest a bit of garage work over the weekend, I've never been turned on by flush riviting before mind you.....TMI? Yeah TMI

No problem. I was in an IM with a friend about Russian jets and he sent me the link, I had never seen anywhere near as much detail of non western aircraft manufacturing so I thought I'd share. Most of the aircraft structure seem to be cut and built up on site rather than delivered as sub-structures which has been the way its been done in the west for the past 20-30 years..
