Allegiant Announces IWA-OAK, Increases IWA-LAS

Thu Nov 17, 2011 10:06 pm

Interesting announcements. LAS goes to 12 weekly and OAK will be 6 weekly. Mesa is really turning out to be a winner for ALGT.

I am glad that G4 is growing at AZA but as a former ground handling employee it is a nightmare. There are six to eight overnight planes, shortage of ground equipment, and shortage of staff at the tckt counter and on the ramp. The operation is nonstop from 0500 to 2300 or later on busy days. AZA is a unique operation and is not ran like any other airline hub. I wish my former coworkers the best of luck because they will need it espically durning irops

I thought we used IATA codes on this site? AZA is the correct IATA code. Mods can you correct the title?

Pre-emptive strike to scare off NK?

I was thinking the same thing. Now if only AZA could get flights to ATL.

Yes and to add competition to the current PHX-LAS and PHX-OAK flights by WN and US at PHX.

WN and US have modified their fares to $39 each way (but only on certain days). Still, US is unable to compete on price with bag fees. Luckily, I live 10 minutes away from IWA, so its an easy trip for a $60 round trip fare to Vegas when booked enough in advance.

I cannot find anything in the site forum rules stating IATA codes only. Can you help me out? Here in Phoenix, we refer to it as IWA and not AZA (ask any person who flys into/out of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport where AZA is, and I dont think you will find anyone who knows that abbreviation.

I was thinking more along the lines of a pre Hawaii setup. (Stiring the pot since I haven't seen that discussed this week)

Gotta love $20 each way! You're right. I live in Queen Creek and have been associated with ASU Polytechnic and the airport for five years and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who calls it "AZA". I didn't even realize that was the code until two or three years ago. Technicality or not, it's IWA to anyone who lives around here or uses the airport. End of story.

Negative. Hawaii ops are a no-go from IWA for the time being, or so I'm told from those in the know. Although, stir at will, it won't get anywhere! Lol.

Atc, sorry I was clear as mud. I ment IWA would be a feeder for Hawaii flights out of OAK.. I'm actually hoping as I have family in Gilbert. Let the beatings begin.

I'm suprised about IWA not being a point for Hawaiin nonstops. With as much build up as G4 has there, it would seem a logical fit. Also would seem likely due to past success of the ATA/WN codeshare and that capacity never being replaced.
