Thank you for the link.

I can hardly wait until January 21 to be on board the first true long haul flight HND-FRA on the "We fly First" ANA 787 Dreaminer.

There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

Randy's Blog currently contains more information than newairplane.com:
http://boeingblogs.com/randy/archives/2011/11/dream_tour.html

December has six stops: Beijing, Guangzhou, Haikou, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, and Doha.

They state that they will announce new stops about a month ahead and the tour will last six months.

Not stirring any pot or being malicious, but the world tour that Boeing should do for the 787 should be to have a 777LR visit countries of potential buyers, pick up the decision makers and fly them to the locations where the 787 production ramp up is being conducted to show them that their is a light at the end of the tunnel for those who patiently waited in line, accepted compensation and continued to run their business while a major component was delayed. It will provide them with comfort and confidence to actually place orders knowing that a time for delivery now is much more certain than it was 1, 2 or 3 years ago.

Based on the numbers already ordered there will be tons available for us spotters to see and travel on, so far they have only delivered 2 for 2011 and it does not sound as if any more will be pushed out for the year, so flying one to a country who will not receive their first a/c for another year or two could be painful.

Why do they need the 777LR for that? They have 3 787s that they are not selling, why not send one where you can do all of the above while also showing them the finished product?

I believe it was stated (not by Boeing) that two more will likely be delivered in December, so four total for the year.

I get the idea of bringing buyers to see the production line (although buyers can already do that any time they want), but why would you use a 777-200LR when you've got a perfectly appointed 787 to do the same job?

Hoping it may pay a visit to LTN!

The 757 and 767's did, when they did similar tours around the world...

I thought all the frames available were still loaded with test equipment, was not aware that any of the test birds were already in a full pax config, the other reason was the range of the LR.

Me too, but it is too bad I likely will not see it there. It would be nice if it lands at ORF, but what the chances of that.

I hope ORD is a stop.  This is a very smart business plan for Boeing. Taken from the USA tour the A380 did, hmm?

I think the point is that they visit all of the countries in which airlines haven't yet purchased a Dreamliner.

Isn't this a little late? Surely the aircraft should have done this before going into airline service.

Boeing should subsidize ANA to take some of their seats out to make it look comfortable. The image so far is not favourable.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

They are using the UA/CO BusinessFirst seat but in a much lighter color (almost white) instead of the CO blue now flying. So will "UNITED" use a different interior for the 787? even with the carpeting (which i think looks awesome) and I love the white seat with the brown, tufted leather seat with the large headrest.

I hope that's what CO/UA does!

Well, it is a combination of the two. Both ET and KQ currently have the Dreamliner on order and both have been heavily impacted by the delays. So probably a good PR move, not sure if it will do the trick. If I were ET, I would not let the Dreamliner overshadow the Star Alliance event on Dec 13.

Check out the Randy's Blog post linked in Reply 4...they redid the interior of ZA003. Those pictures are of the reconfigured aircraft.

Quoting par13del (Reply 12):
the other reason was the range of the LR.

A 787, especially not running full passenger load, has more than enough range for any conceivable "buyer-pickup" flight.

Quoting Babybus (Reply 19):

Isn't this a little late? Surely the aircraft should have done this before going into airline service.

If they'd done this prior to entry to service, they'd either have had to take an aircraft out of the test fleet (delaying certification) or use one that was slated for a customer (delaying delivery). Neither of those are great options when you're already late.

Quoting Babybus (Reply 19):

What image? This is the first report I've heard of poor cabin comfort on the ANA configuration. All reports I've seen have been neutral-to-positive so far.

I can say with fair confidence that it won't be coming to MCI. Nothing to get excited about here.

I think the idea is to stop everywhere where the clients are waiting to get their 787 at some point. I think that this page might suggest where they will stop with the tour:

There was a copy of the Dec EnRoute magazine on my YHZ-YUL flight yesterday, and Calin's column mentioned the 787 coming to YYZ at some point in the new year (as part of AC's 75 year anniversary celebration).

Now I see this thread, so I guess YYZ must be one of the stops...

So glad it's finally making its way to NBO!! Shame I'll be arriving there just a few days too late but good news none the less. At least I got to see N787BA at OSH this year   It's definitely time for KQ to get some new a/c...

Hopefully Santiago de Chile will be part of the 787 Dreamliner Dream Tour. It would also be fantastic to showcase the B-787-8 Dreamliner at FIDAE 2012 in Santiago de Chile.
