Maximus Air Cargo A6-SUL A300F

Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:10 am

Just wondering if anyone knows if this aircraft has been purchased by DHL or is on lease to them.
It has been operating out of Luton all week and I wondered what the deal was. Caught it departing to Leipzig yesterday.

Any info would be welcome cheers!

Have to say LTN is becoming somewhat a A300 Freighter heaven at the moment. FEDEX for Maintenance, DHL & MNG cargo using them for flights and now this Maximus.

I can't add anything about whether it's been purchased by DHL.

But I thought it was strange as welI, I saw it a couple of months ago. The A300s tower over all the resident A319s

Indeed I was always used to seeing the 2 DHL A300's parked in the corner, Tails just far and above higher then anything else in the airport. Then for a little while the Spanish 737's of Swiftair were operating 1 of the Sunday flights. 3 A300 sitting there yesterday 1 from Turkey 1 from UAE and a DHL. Throw in an ATP freighter (which wouldnt move argh).

That A6-SUL was recently delivered to Maximus, in Spetember 2011. Seems that it is on an ACMI contract or so to DHL...
Aircraft are marginal costs with wings.

It is indeed an ACMI arrangement.

DHL has bought 18 A300-600s from JAL for conversion (I believe two are converted and delivered) Throw in the 2 A306s that Maximus ordered and DHL will be operating 20 of JAL's 22 A306s.

They also run a 737F as I see it on a regular basis at CVT
Must think up a new one soon, slow moving brain trying to get into gear ;)

West Air Sweden (through its West Air Luxembourg subsidiary) "runs" three 767Fs for DHL as well, but the actual flying is subcontracted to ATI and ABX. I believe they do intra-Europe and between Europe, Bahrain and India.

Just for the hell of it, let me add that I flew on this plane as JA014D in June of last year. Very sad to see the A300s leave the JAL fleet...
