DL Using An A333 To BWI?

Tue Dec 20, 2011 3:31 pm

Hey everyone, at about 10.15am I just saw a DL A330-300 departing BWI. I checked Flightaware and saw that it was DL 8958 to DTW. Is that an equipment swap, charter, or scheduled flight for holiday travel?

Probably returning from a military charter trip. The A333 is the second-best plane in the fleet for military charters after the 744.

I suppose that makes sense..I don't visit Flightaware too often, but looking at this aircraft's tracking, it appears that it arrived in BWI from HHN earlier this morning. HHN is a popular stop for military charters, yes?

Possibly clearing backlog of passengers. A couple of days ago they had an A330 fly two round trip ATL-MCO flights. Really I don't know why but it was in the rotation a few days ago.

CNN just did a brief story. This flight carried the last US troops back from Iraq. A friend of mine is on a flight to ATL and there are quite a few military folks on his flight.
