ABIA's success takes off
Notice towards the end of the article it makes reference to the fact that SAT's air traffic is based on tourism, but AUS's is based on business travel.
Right now AUS only has 1 gate designated for international travel (Gate 2), but there are other gates that can accomodate wide-body aircraft. Air Canada doesn't use Gate 2, BTW. They're down at the other end of the terminal at Gate 23. I think it was because you clear US Customs in Canada when you're returning?
And although it's not commercial service and it's not even nonstop, the airport did announce today that Eagle Global Logistics would begin twice weekly DC-10 cargo flights to Taipei. I believe the route is TPE-ANC-AUS-LAX-HNL-GUA-TPE.
