Delta Leaving Montreal?

Delta has downgraded service to Montreal since the Canada-USA Open Skys treaty went into effect. Most flights are now flown by Comair instead of Delta themselves. lately Delta handed over their two daily flights to Cincinnati to Comair leaving them with only two flights daily to Atlanta. Does anyone know if Delta plans to withdraw itself from the Montreal market entirely in the near future, or do they plan to continue serving Atlanta and hopefully expanding that route?

It's possible when the delayed AC / DL code-share agreement (finally) comes into effect early next year.

I think it's worth noting that about 3 years ago DL dumped YEG, and cut YYC and YVR down to CRJ's from 757's from SLC. All in all it doesn't seem that DL has much interest in the Canadian market. The only thing about it is that they are supposedly going to code-share with AC, although details are yet to be announced, but I'm wondering what will happen, they don't seem that interested in Canadian markets (wheras AA seems quite eager to grow here).

I live in Vancouver and It's already bad enough that Delta doesn't serve us. I feel your pain.

CNBC- I believe Delta's partner, SkyWest airlines opeartes a service from Vancouver-Portland on a regular basis. The frequency of that service I don't know, but delta in some capacity does serve YVR.

If you look a Comair the same goes for Montreal. However, the point being Delta itself appears to be abandoning Canada. They've pulled back from all markets and replaced flights with "ski-doos". Delta used to be the preeminant US airline in Montreal.. now even US Airways has a bigger presence here. Vancouver went from daily 757s to nothing, Montreal went from L-1011s, 767s and 757 to 2 measly MD-80s over the past 15 years. the newest US entrant to YUL, Continental, has the same number of flights. It's been a long slow decline here for Delta.. How long will it be before they they end up just serving Toronto with express carriers filling in everywhere else? Very sad..
