WN/FL Codesharing?

Sat Jan 07, 2012 9:45 pm

What's the hold up on codesharing between Southwest and AirTran? Are they waiting for SOC? I remember reading that the Southwest pilot contract prohibited Southwest from codesharing with any other airline, but the two pilot groups agreed on a new contract. You can't even book AirTran flights on Southwest's website yet.

I think so. Buzz is that this will happen in late FEB or early MAR. Once that happens, then codeshare's will happen.

SOC shouldn't have anything to do with codesharing. Frankly, it scares me how seemingly difficult it is for WN to implement even a simple codeshare. I know their system sucks but good luck whenever they cut over to a new reservations system.

Welcome to WN!   WN is a great company, but when it comes to technology, they're waaaaaay behind the times.

Once the SOC is complete the code share will start. Rumor is the first ever ATL 2012 message to the field GK will announce the code share plus a lot more WN flights out of ATL. Even though the next WN schedule release is around Jan 22 or something like that any new service announcements will be held off until media day in ATL. From what I'm hearing is 2012 will be every 2 months new WN x FL ATL routes will slowly be announced. Wnfg

When is this media day supposed to happen?
