And pilots at Emirates dont suffer fatigue? I mean pilots at Emirates not allowed to suffer fatigue.

For those that dont know about the A345 accident http://avherald.com/h?article=416c9997&opt=0

Yes it could have been a lot worse, although it sounds like they were only just past the hold line - they may have realised their mistake and stopped before they were actually in the way of the departing aircraft. All pilots can suffer fatigue of course, but the crew flying from Sydney to Auckland must be a fresh crew, not the same crew that has just flown the 14 hours from Dubai - Sydney?

must be a fresh crew,

Fair point however there is some discussion going on that perhaps not all crew are getting sufficient rest between segments rostered, considering past days workloads/time zone changes and sleep difficulties, etc

The 777 crew have a DXB-BKK-SYD-CHC-SYD-BKK-DXB trip, and the cabin crew get 24hrs in BKK, and one stay of 24hrs in Sydney, then a 48hr stay in Sydney following the CHC shuttle. The cockpit actually get 48 hrs rest in Bangkok during their first stay there as the flight time between BKK and SYD can go over 9.5 hours which if they were to have only 24hrs rest in BKK would require an augmenting flight crew, so rather than pay another pilot to go on the trip its cheaper to just let them stay an extra day.

The A380 crew will therefore have 48hrs. in SYD before the AKL shuttle, maybe they even layover there.

But be that all as it may, EK has a pretty atrocious reputation about dealing with sick calls, fatigue, other health related issues of the crew.

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 747-400, registration 9M-MPB performing flight MH-123 from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Sydney,NS (Australia), was on final approach to Sydney's runway 16R and went around from low height due to the rejected takeoff and the Boeing 777 on the runway, repositioned for another approach and landed safely about 15 minutes later.

I did notice the same MH 744 fly past my window at work twice in short succession and wondered what was going on.... who knew it was so exciting!
