Saudi Arabian Airlines has ordered eight additional Boeing 777-300ERs in an order valued at $2.4 billion at list prices. The order was announced as the carrier took delivery of its first two of the type from a previous deal for 12 aircraft, plus 10 options (ATW Daily News, Nov. 9, 2010). Boeing said this order was previously accounted for on its orders and deliveries website in 2011.
SV DG H.E. Eng. Khaled Al-Mulhim said, "With the ongoing growth of business and industry in Saudi Arabia, demand in domestic, regional and international travel is also increasing rapidly and the 777-300ER will play a significant role in our long-term strategy growth to expand and modernize our fleet with newer, more fuel-efficient airplanes."
SV took delivery of its first 777, a 777-200ER, in December 1997 and owns and operates 23 -200ERs, Boeing said.
