Airbus announced it as an MoU, but Norwegian announced it as firm. So perhaps Norwegian considers it firm, but has not yet signed the formal sales contract with Airbus which would make it so in Airbus' eyes (and formal accounting rules).

We have a similar situation with AF/KL. They have signed the sales contract for the 787, but have not signed it for the A350. So Boeing lists the 787 planes as firm, and Airbus considers the A350 planes as MoUs.

That's very curious. I wonder why they wont name the 25 narrowbodys?

If I remember correctly, last year they ordered 15 A320 OEO's and 10 NEO's with 25 options. So perhaps the 25 listed are the options?

Also, unless I am missing something the link you provided says they have ordered:
  • 20 Boeing 737-800NGs
  • 10 Boeing 777-300 ERs
  • 21 Airbus 330-200s
  • 25 narrow-body planes
  • 18 sub-100 seat jets

Interesting that we've seen a few orders this year where a carrier has ordered both the A320 and the 737, I wonder if this is a symptom of the scarity of slots for both "old engine option" versions of these birds so airlines can't get all they want from one OEM.

The first 6 A332 was ordered in July 2010 and the 10 77W + 10 738s was also from an earlier order.

Through the end of January 2012, Boeing has delivered 38 airplanes, at least 1 of every type.

http://active.boeing.com/commercial/...ReportType=CurYrDelv&pageid=m15520

The Boeing order book, through the end of January shows 148 airplanes ordered, including 140 B-737NG/MAX, 10 B-787, no B-767 or B-747, and -2 B-777.

http://active.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.cfm

Through the end of January 2012, Airbus shows a total of 91 airplane orders and 37 deliveries.

"Airbus began 2012 on a high note with new bookings for 91 jetliners – including two significant A320 Family contracts and a repeat order for A330-200F freighters, while delivering a total of 37 aircraft during the month."

I would guess 767-300ER's and 787-8's. but that's just a guess, albeit a fairly safe one on the 767 side of things :p

In other 767 news in the latest Boeing update we see that those last two unidentified orders for 767's made in December were identified this week for LAN. They just keep picking them up, in ones and twos.... Also note that ANA has only one left on order. Don't know if we've seen the last of their orders or not, but I'd assume if they're going to continue adding them in ones and twos, we may see another ANA order fairly soon....

The Norwegian order isn't showing on the Airbus spreadsheet yet, but it is firm. So the total orders for Airbus is actually 191 to Boeing's 148 - Which considering this is supposed to be the year of the Max is incredibly impressive.

The outstanding pendng orders from 2010 should also be carried over. I have taken PanAm's last list for Airbus (sorry I have not got the time to do Boeing as well) and added a few thoughts at the end regarding whether they are still valid.

AirAsia - 100 A320neo* - Not clear if this is really a pending order - delete from list?
AF/KLM - 25 A350-900 - still pending
Air Lease Corporation - 20 A320neo, 16 A321neo - still pending
ALAFCO - 30 A320neo, - just options or about to be firmed?
American Airlines - 130 Mix of A319 / A321oeo - not all will be new orders, plus in Ch11
American Airlines - 130 A321 neo- was firm now pending again, plus in Ch11
China Eastern - 15 A330 - unclear
Transaero - 4 A380-800 - still pending

I think we should wait for PanAm to provide us with he usual updates when he has time.

IMHO, the CS300 would be a good fit for Garuda's fleet to replace older 737s. However, that is a little stretch, but not much. IMHO, I suspect much is dependent upon the progress of negotiations with Bombardier.

Doesn't everyone realize that this is beginning to rip a hole in the space-time continuum? Or at least in the 7-across cross section discussions...

Actually, I suspect Boeing's recent work to cut 767 manufacturing costs coupled with large backlogs of the 787 and A350 are giving the type a chance.

Hmmm..
I have to say that the Lion Air order is strange.
This is the second time it has been fanfare as firm (at least by Lion Air).

I guess it was firmed after February 14th (although the PR is from feb 14th) , so it will probably appear in the update next week

Boeing may be waiting for EXIM Bank approval... seems the bank needed to raise it's limits, and I believe that was done yesterday.

Boeing updates on a Thursday.

Hopefully we will see PIA's five 777-300ERs, as well, as that order is now being reported as firm by Marketwatch.

No, not firmed by Boeing this week.

On the other hand, 29 737-900ER and 201 737MAX for Lieon Air was firmed up yesterday

And according to Flighglobal, AIr New Zealand has converted two 787-9 options, but I'm not sure if these are alreday listed as a UFO that should be identified or if they will soon show up as a firm order?
