Jet Blue Profits Triple

Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:13 pm

Here's the latest news on B6 earnings:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505245_1...-profit-triples-on-demand-weather/

"The airline said its net income rose to $23 million, or 8 cents per share, in the three months ended Dec. 31. That's up from $8 million, or 3 cents per share, a year earlier."

Excellent performance by B6!

I'm surprised that only a third of B6's customer base in BOS is business given that business is what their focus is up here. I wonder what destinations they'll start in the next few months. LGA is highly likely. Also, B6 is apparently codesharing or interlining with JL for their new BOS-NRT flight, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it expand to their JFK-NRT flight as well.

Barger was on CNBC tonight and specifically mentioned that the Caribbean is doing very well. Also said that B6 would be interested in buying LH's stake if LH were to sell.

Especially with AA in BK this is the perfect time for B6 to grow in BOS (and New England, where AE used to fly in the past). Likewise, Caribbean - another place where B6 can take advantage of AA's trimming (mainly SJU connections).
