Garuda Near A 18 CRJ1000 Order.

Thu Feb 02, 2012 9:55 am

http://www.flightglobal.com/news/art...ier-for-regional-jet-order-367698/

Referring to some reports coming from Indonesia , Garuda has chosen the CRJ1000 for its regional jet requirement .
The 18 units order should be official at the Singapore Air Show in 10 days.

For sure it's a blow for Embraer (can't always be the winner ! ) , and a very appreciated push for Bombardier !

Small order at this stage but in a country a size of Indonesia, that could grow significantly.

Good win for the canadians

i much prefer the CRJ...! remember flying in LH CRJ700 fro Vienna to Berlin, it felt like in a private jet, kind of... loved the powerful take off and the smooth ride...

Good luck to Canadair

Great news

Since the article is from FlightGlobal it must be a done deal...? They usually don't print anything unless it is confirmed somewhere. 18 x CRJ1000 is a sizeable order. I assume some options will be announced too.

Glad the CRJ1000 is gaining pace... If no order was placed, Air Nostrum and Air France-Brit Air would remain the sole operators and the line had to be shut down after 40 or so.

Great news and good to hear! Hopefully we will also see follow-up orders.
When will the first plane be delivered?

It is funny that in Indonesia we will see CRJ-1000 with Garuda, SSJ-100 with SkyAviation and Kartika and no ERJ??? A little but strange, isn't it?

Sriwijaya has ordered the E-190s... 8 or 10... forgot...

If this deal does happen, then it's very good news for Bombardier and the CRJ1000, which only has two customers at present. As nice as Embraer's E-jets are, it's great to see the CRJ continuing production as it's a very sleek aircraft.

It's very interesting day indeed, following the news that Garuda confirms to order regional jets, it's share gains 9pct today! I wish i had bought the share last week . according to the article in bloomberg, this is due analysts see this as the right strategy for the airline.

Congratulations for Bombardier and Garuda

I also prefer flying the LH CRJ700 LUX-MUC-LUX rather than going on A320's CGN-MUC-CGN. Really has a touch of private flying. Especially at LUX.

That's very cool....though I tend to remain cautious until the deal is officially announced. I like the look of that long needle of an aircraft.

As much as I respect FlightGlobal, I don't think they named the four Garuda hubs in the news article correctly. They mentioned the four hubs as Balikpapan, Denpasar, Ujung Pandang, and Makassar. Makassar is formerly known as Ujung Pandang. I wonder what the fourth hub is.

This order is badly needed. The CRJ1000 has been a poor seller, due in large part, IMO, to scope clauses.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Likely. I think it was hurt as well by the E190 being to market sooner.

And by the E190's more spacious cabin. The fuselage is almost a foot wider than the CRJ and the interior cabin width around 7 inches wider. That permits wider seats and the E190's aisle is also about 3.5 inches wider than the CRJ's. Makes a noticeable difference.

No doubt about it. I very much perfer the E190 myself. I was speaking from an airline point of view, and seeing as I never argue that the A320s extra width helps sell airplanes, I wanted to be fair to the CRJ.

As a sidenote, Air Nostrum took delivery of their 10th CRJ1000 on Friday. They have 25 more on order. The one delivered Friday was the 75th Bombardier aircraft delivered to Air Nostrum.

The crj's do burn significantly less fuel than the Ejets of similar passenger capacity so there may be a market for these planes for some time yet.

Brit Air and Air Nostrum reported 4% better fuel burn numbers than those promised by BBD...and those are real world numbers.

Yeah, you are absolutely right, but you also carry a lot more weight than is needed for short haul routes. I have always wondered why so many airlines - that pretend to buy fuel efficient airliners - but the ERJ190 i.s.o the CRJ1000.

On a 800 nm mission with 100 pax, the CRJ1000EL is about 7 tonnes lighter than the E190STD.

It's the same why some airline chose the NG and not the A320, or chose the A320 and not the NG...
Fuel efficient? That's just one part of the equation!
