The only thing missing is a baby plane in new UA livery beneath the other two planes.

Dear Continentalfan, I am afraid this thread has to be deleted since the picture shown is not in compliance with the forum rules (no adult stuff) !!!!

Heck, who ever said the 737 looks like a pig? On this picture they remind me rather of two rabbits...

They should have run this by A.net members before publishing it. UA didn't have any 737's at the time of the merger and CO had been out of SkyTeam since 2009 but their plane still has the SkyTeam logo on it. The belly of the UA plane also looks more like an Airbus, although who knows, maybe it's already showing a little baby bump.

Just another media fail!

Actually, it makes me think of the tragic collision between United and TWA airliners over the Grand Canyon once upon a time.

Do you really think any of that matters to the target audience of that magazine?

Of course not, I'm just making light of it because oftentimes members of this forum feel that journalists should be aviation experts as well. None of the "errors" take away from what the illustrator was trying to express.

Kind of funny, but do we have to sexualize everything? Read the top corner, and the Facebook IPO is also being sexualized. Is 5th grade blue humor appropriate for a business rag?

Given that it is the marketing "geniuses" employed by the big-business types that reads these sorts of mag's that do the sexualizing, yes, it is entirely appropriate.

Thanks for the link!

I've only read the first page so far, but I'm totally gobsmacked. Why don't these people eat and drink the catering in a real life situation? It reminded me of that Mission Impossible that Heston Blumenthal did on British Airways. He had to work really hard to finally convince the Executive Chef for Gate Gourmet that food looked and tasted differently coming out of an aircraft oven! Crimeny. Where do they get these people?!?

You mean the coffee? If it makes you feel any better they changed the packs around to accommodate UAs taller brew baskets. Its worth noting that while the merger hasn't been perfect they have done allot of things right...discussed later in the article...and have changed course when they rolled out a procedure that didn't work out quite right (ie: changing from UAs WilMA boarding system to rows...and back again   ) So far at least from my perspective they have taken the best of both worlds...which is exactly what they said they were going to do.

Interesting cover. They should make one after the merger is fully complete with a United plane smoking a cigarette.

I still have a T-shirt with that logo back in the day. Got it in the early 90's from "South Of The Border" truckstop in SC.
Never in my wildest idea I'd be working for them. I'd like to wear it to work one day, but I'd be suspended.

Many moons ago, and I mean MANY moons ago, we had a wonderful satirical magazine called the National Lampoon. I remember in the late 70s a picture of the Enterprise proto-shuttle mounted on the 747 carrier jet. The caption was, "we don't know how it happened, but we are hoping for a B-1 bomber" So the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Interesting that they claim UA/CO is the "worlds largest airline." I thought Delta was largest? Or is UA/CO bigger in some other category (pax carried, fleet, daily departures, etc)?

BTW - those are Flight Sim aircraft - looks like the Wilco 737. Very amusing.

Yeah that is the Wilco model. It's really funny seeing FS planes used in publications. I've seen some of my own repaints used in a bunch of different things - mainly some of the fighters I did and my Wunala Dreaming. Whenever I see a visual with planes in it I make sure to check them out and look for it - its really funny what you find.

That's a UA 737 classic.... And the CO 737 has the SkyTeam logo... I am disappoint! This points to an affair while CO was still married to SkyTeam! Adultery alert, adultery alert! Pull up, terrain! Pull out, terrain!

Very risque, very risque. I don't know if this is going to fly. The sunlight can be taken as an explosion.

I don't know. I didn't get a hard-on when looking at this "sexualized" pose. Was that their goal? :P

That can pretty much describe the merger lol. As we have all seen the PMCO and PMUA employees and customers have their differences.

Now as to the off spring of these two:

If the photo was the other way around, the first thing out of Mr. United mounth to Mrs. CO should be "who is that babies daddy?" Cause it don't look NOTHING like me. Ask for a paternity test. Just because she used my name doesn't make it my baby.

Now as for the photo the way it is, CO must have some strong genes as the offspring came out identical to CO parent with only 6 letters from UA parent as the difference. And even that has little resemblance to UA parent.
Worked Hard. Flew Right. Farewell, Continental. Thanks for the memories.

It reminds me of this, also from the 1970s:

Public service announcement: "It's" = "it is". To indicate posession, write "its." Looks wrong, but it's correct grammar

My main issue with the picture is that the engines on the United 737 are not triangular enough to look like those of a 737 classic. As most of us know, United never had 737NGs in the Blue Tulip livery.

They should have used an A320 for United. That would have made a lot of people, on this forum, very happy. (And of course, it would probably piss off the other half of the forum)

There is no way this picture would have been approved by the mods here. It is off center, not enough light, too much space below the subject, so on and so forth, blah blah blah... Yes I am bitter.   Funny picture though.

After reading so many poorly written articles on aviation, it is refreshing to read one that is well written and full of information that I didn't know; I am not in the aviation industry. I learned more about the details of the merger from reading that article than I have on A-Net.

Thank you for sharing!
