Very exciting times indeed to see more international Expansion for SWA. CUN really seems to be the focus right now!

I really hope this codeshare gets implemented ASAP because otherwise as someone who lives in STL and likes to travel on SWA, this service does no good for me, as I cannot book STL-DEN/HOU-CUN, will be forced to book Air Tran STL-ATL-CUN at the moment.

They're JUST putting DENCUN on sale for APR12? That should do great with their cost premium and short booking window.

Looks like we definitely have a new growth zone for WN -- AUS! Congrat's to the folks in Texas' capital city for some more recognition as a fast-growing part of the U.S., and, from what I keep reading, a wonderful place to live and work.

I sure wouldn't be surprised to see lots more Mexico, as well as domestic routes, announced in the next year from Austin.

Is that April 2012 or April 12th? Not that it makes a diff but the start date is actually April 16th, 2012, yes I know I am being nitpicky since your point still stands!

I am rooting for STL-AUS to be announced next since we got STL-SAT announced too.

So now if I am looking at everything correctly, combined Southwest and Air Tran (tho at this point this is all Air Tran metal flying) they will be serving CUN from...ATL, BWI, MKE, SAT, AUS, DEN?

It is, SANFan, and perhaps my antiquated login suggests as much (I relocated from the midwest, as many here have!). I'd say you should stop reading and come on down for a weekend!

That said, I'm pretty excited to see new service here in AUS, and I'm hoping that it will have a better chance than the several AUS-CUN flights offered by others in the past, e.g. DL, CO, et. al.

Given the FIS situation in HOU, I'm particularly curious if WN is running some numbers on opening more Mexico service from here instead. SAT may be more appealing with higher O&D to Mexican cities I would imagine.
