S12 UA 777-200 (non-ER) Routes

Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:03 am

On what routes will UA use their non-ER 777-200s during S12? Will they use it on UA944 (ORD-FRA)?

I think they are changing routes from ORD and putting them to IAD, suck as ORD-FRA is now moved to IAD-FRA. UA still has an ORD-FRA route, it's just with a 772ER and a 744.

Will UA206 (LAX-IAD) be flown by their non-ER 777-200s?

Do they always do that for the summer timetable? Currently UA944 is operated by non-ER 772s.

They interchange aircraft -200 and -200/ER on a lot of routes from ORD and IAD to Europe ie UA 944 one day is a -200 and the next a -200/ER. Longer routes like IAD-DXB, IAD-PEK need to be a -200/ER because of the distance of the flight.

I guess you can try to look at flight tracker websites to see if there's some pattern to the -200s. That may give you an idea.

Well the B-77A still has a range of about 5200 nm, so why not use it on TATL from ORD and IAH? IAH-FRA is only 4550 nm. Infact, according to GCM the B-77A has the range to fly DEN-NRT.

UA has some 19-20 B-77As, and they include the oldest B-777 flying anywhere.

IAD-BRU and EWR-BRU are mixed ops with 772A's and 772ER's.

UA663 and UA421 SFO-HNL is a 772A. As well as the return UA724 and UA396 HNL-SFO.

I don't think UA flight 206 exists.
However, I can tell you that both LAXIAD flights that are on a 777 (950, 653) are the 3-class configuration. Same for UA 967 which is the one daily IADLAX. Where it is the new configuration 3-3-3 in Y and 2-4-2 in C or the old 2-5-2 in Y and 2-3-2 in C is up for grabs. I've taken 3 of these 777 flights this year and had the new configuration twice.

During S12 UA206 will be operated by A320 equipment between ORD-MCO.

Most of the time UA 950 is flown by non-ER three-class 777s (90% of the time) but sometimes that flight is flown by and ER.

Actually the first 777 is flying with cathay pacific and not united.

Sometimes 772A planes show up on transpacific routes but only on HNL/SFO/SEA- NRT and that is pretty rare.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Doesn't that depend on what your mean by "first"? UA received the first delivery but that was not the first article produced. I was in Everett I think in late '96 and hull number one was there with engines off. It was still in Boeing colors but the guide said all the telemetry gear was being removed and it was to be delivered to a carrier in the coming months. I do not recall who initially received it.
...are we there yet?

The first delivered 777 is indeed flying with United, N777UA. I flew on it a few months ago, FRA-ORD.

If you want to take a 777-200, then go to hawaii.

Looking once again at the timetable I see that the 7:45 am 777 departure is changing flight numbers a few times. For instance on MAR 25 it is UA206, on MAR 26 it is UA208 and so on.
