787..only Three Deliveries Thus Far?

Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:25 am

It's nearly March, and it doesn't appear that Boeing hasn't delivered any additional 787's. Weren't there supposed to be additional deliveries early in the first quarter? Boeing seems to be very quiet, except to talk about the Dreamliner tour...

Deliveries due in February have been pushed to March due to inspection and rework for an assembly error in the aft fuselage. See Flightblogger

This thread tracks production and delivery news.

G'day

Deliveries in my understanding of the word means a product was actually delivered to the customer's site for use by the customer.

Boeing deliveries appear to be more like hand overs, the aircraft have been paid for and legally belong to the airline, in this case ANA. But the aircraft have not actually been "shipped" to the customer and put into service. I understand only 3 have actually been delivered and are in revenue service.

A bit of an eye wash exercise, someone correct me if I understand this wrongly.

Cheers

Peter

ANA has been operating five 787s for about a month now. Below's schedule is as of February 1st but I don't think anything has changed since then.

Im sorry but I disagree, from photos here in the database it would show that all 5 are in revenue service
i.e JA801A, JA802A, JA807A, JA804A and JA805A

Here's a hint - Airbus, Bombardier and Embraer deliveries are exactly the same.

Once the airline takes official possession of the airframe, it's up to them when they fly it out and then put it into revenue service. But for financial accounting purposes, a delivery has occurred when the customer takes ownership.

G'day

I stand corrected, thank you. Having not heard of these aircraft being moved to Japan I was assuming that some of the delivered ANA 787's were still sitting on Boeing's parking lot awaiting some mods.

And yes, I was assuming that, except when an A 380 is delivered the news about its departure from Toulouse the next day or so are posted somewhere, even though that deliveries of A 380ies have become more commonplace by now.

Again, I apologize

Cheers

So, after ANA, who's next? United, RAM, Air India, JAL?

Boeing has an entire parking lot full of 787. I don't follow any of the productions threads and was wondering what the delay was. Meanwhile on the 787...

Japan Airlines and Air India should be the next two operators to receive planes, once the GEnx+787 is certified and any necessary work on the aft fuselage is completed,

What is the status of the GEnX? My rumor mill is quiet.
