A345 For Conviasa Cancelled?

Fri Feb 24, 2012 3:42 pm

Since this is not entirely related to EY themselves I decided to start a seperate thread about my following question.

I was surprised when reading below article about EY starting nonstop flights from IAD to AUH from 31 March 2013. See below link:

I assume the deal to sell those 4 A340-500's to Conviasa (for 60 million U.S. Dollars?) been cancelled or was the deal never reached? I would have loved to see a A345 in Conviasa colors.

Very interesting article.

It makes me wonder. The deal was supposed to be closed and Conviasa would be receiving the A345s before the end of the first quarter of 2012.

By opening these routes in the US, the airline will need at least 2 of these units to operate well. Maybe the deal stalled?

Flying isn't dangerous. Crashing is what's dangerous!
