Quoting TomB (Thread starter):
I gather that Jim Albaugh decided that he had to place his best production manager, Larry Loftis, on the 787 program as the 787 program will continue to have a huge impact on the reputation and profitability of Boeing.
Quoting Roseflyer (Reply 1):
With the 787 proceeding towards a production program, Loftis' experience with production issues and costs will be useful. With the 777 potentially transitioning to a developmental program, it makes sense for Francher to go there.
Quoting flyglobal (Reply 3):
Makes absolutely sense for me: A production expert to run the 787 as production ramp up is key now and Scott move to the 777 which is ahead of a major upgrade to lead it in the next century.
Well done in my opinion.
