Where Is The 1,000th Boeing 747?

Sun Feb 26, 2012 8:16 pm

Hello , I know that SIA will or have retired their 747s , I was just wondering I know they took delivery of the 1,000 Boeing 747 back in the 90s but my question is where is it now? Thanks

The aircraft seems to be a freighter with Southern Air now (ex 9V-SMU)

That's one classy freighter scheme!

I find it sad though..for such a special aircraft the 1000th 747 to be converted into a freighter.

Sure beats a museum. I'm glad to see these beauties still flying all over the world.

Southern has an awesome scheme. I had the chance to work for them, but I had to turn their offer down. Was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in my young career.

Not to stray too far from topic... I cant wait to see this scheme on their 777F when they get it...

Yes, but next time I send a parcel overseas I'd love to think it'll be ferried by her!

Ah, thanks for the info, so nice to see and know it is still being used rather than being scrapped.

Well its the best way to keep it flying and for it to be around for quite awhile in the future. Would you rather they store it in the desert or scrap it than it being a freighter, which by the way are used to the max! This aircraft is nearly 18 and a half years old and there is a good 20-25+ years of flying time left at least!!! So be happy its flying!
