I was out of town most of Allstar weekend and I didn't go spotting at DAB
like I usually do for the Daytona 500 due to the weather being so crappy there.
Thursday I did some spotting in the afternoon - some interesting visitors - Obama came in the VC
-32 (757) as Air Force One because the VC
-25s (747s) were both in maintenance. I saw a couple other military transports a blue and white C-20 (G-III) and an all white C-37 Gulfstream V, the day before some General flew in a blue and white C-37. There were a handful of biz jets but nothing out of the ordinary in terms of amount.
Department of Justice flew an MD
-80 in N836NK - all white. I was thinking that maybe it belonged to a basketball team as Detroit Pistons own an ex Spirit MD
I checked PASSUR, but didn't see anything that unusual except for a MIami Air 737-400 that I think the Miami Heat uses. I was hoping for a few team planes to come in like I seen pictures of when they had it in Vegas with the Charlotte Hornets 727 landing.
Daytona didn't look to have anything out of the ordinary either other than the usual NASCAR team planes ie Roush 727s, the Hendrick and Gibbs Saab 2000s, DEI E145s, Penske, Waltrip and Haas CRJs and the various E120s. Other than that I really didn't notice any additional new crew haulers. Someone chartered a Vision 737-400 and Delta and US Airways brought in bigger planes. I know some of the drivers got some new toys to fly that I haven't gotten pictures of yet since I haven't gone spotting there since 2010. Hopefully I can catch some of them in July.
